Moving from FBR sandbox to production: a practical checklist
Going live is a small step if you have prepared for it. This checklist covers what to confirm in the sandbox and what to change when you move to production.
What the sandbox is for
The sandbox lets you validate and post invoices with no real effect. Use it to prove that your data, HS codes, units and tax rates are accepted for the kinds of sales your business makes.
Before you switch
- Finish your testing. Test the scenarios that apply to your business, and follow FBR's current instructions about what is required before going live.
- Check your seller details. Business name, NTN, province and address should all be correct, because they appear on every invoice.
- Confirm your production token. Make sure the token on your account is the one issued for production use.
- Tidy your data. Fix any recurring errors you saw in the sandbox, such as units that do not match HS codes.
What changes in production
- Invoices you post are real and the invoice numbers are real.
- The scenario ID is not used, so leave that column blank in Excel files.
- Customers can receive PDFs that carry a genuine FBR invoice number and QR code.
Your first live invoice
- Start with one ordinary invoice, not a large batch.
- Validate it, post it and open the PDF.
- Check the invoice number, the QR code and the totals.
- Once it looks right, carry on with your normal volume.
Who switches the account
In the portal your administrator moves an account between Sandbox and Production. Ask for the switch once your testing is complete.
